EILEEN FISHER EXECUTIVE ELECTED CHAIR OF SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY BOARD

Since the company’s inception, Eileen Fisher has always strived to bring women beautifully simple clothes that are also sustainably and ethically produced. For twenty years, Director of Social Consciousness, Amy Hall has worked to develop the Eileen Fisher philanthropic, environmental, and human rights programs. Now, the brand is proud to announce that Hall has been elected as the first woman to serve as Advisory Board Chair to theSocial Accountability International (SAI), a pioneer multi-stakeholder organization dedicated to advancing ‘human rights at work’.

Hall has worked tirelessly at Eileen Fisher to guide the Social Consciousness department's work. From monitoring the environmental impact of harvesting natural fibers, to developing strategic partnerships for women and girls, to the fair and safe treatment of garment factory workers, Hall ensures that every aspect of production meets the brand’s vigorous ethical standards. Thanks to Eileen Fisher’s careful and longstanding relationships with suppliers, and vital on-the-ground training, Hall has created a transparent and accountable supply chain from bottom to top.

The mission of SAI is to bring this level of corporate responsibility worldwide, making Hall the ideal leader. SAI created a revolutionary industry paradigm shift in 1997 when they began holding companies accountable for the behavior of their suppliers from the field or factory to the retail level. To hold all parties accountable, SAI created the first ever global standard for human rights—the SA8000 Standard. This preeminent social standard is theworld’s benchmark for decent work. By working cooperatively with stakeholders to train, educate, and monitor, the organization has helped thousands of workers, created a trustworthy metric for consumers to choose responsibly crafted clothing, and given companies a credible and effective way totranslate values into action, and measure and improve their social performance.

As the newest Advisory Board chair, Hall will promote the SA8000 standard within the textile industry and beyond, and continue to ensure that Eileen Fisher offers women only the most beautiful and comfortable fabrics, knit, sewn, and harvested in a way we can all be proud of.
